Beacheneering in Capones Island

Trek to Capones Island Lighthouse
by lakwatserong tatay

After our overnight experience in Anawangin cove, it's time to go home, but before we do that, of course the trippers will not missed to visit the two famous island sidetrips for Anawangin. The Capones Island and Camara Island.
All of the trippers get up early even though some of us were bit drunk due to last night drinking sessions and socials, get to know each other daw....^_^.
The trippers is ready...go.go...Capones....
Capones Island, this island also has white sand and green clear waters which one of the hidden beauties of the Province of Zambales. This island is also known for an old lighthouse built during the Spanish era which will bring you back in time for sure. Getting to this Island is a bit tiring experience but one of as kind adventure, popular to be sidetrips for Anawangin or Nagsasa Cove adventure. Located exactly as part of Brgy. Pundaquit in San Antonio, Zambales. From the shore of Pundaquit, it's a 15 minutes boat ride before reaching the island's beachfront.
Capones Island
This place is legendary for its lighthouse built during the Spanish era around the year of 1890 by filipino hands. It rises high over the cliffs like a cinematic picture right from the movies and lures people to marvel both at the structure and the enchanting panorama of the sea and the sky.
Capones Island's shore....
some of it's rocky part...
Capones Island is quite larger island that has cliffs and rocky shores on one part and a white sandy beach shores on the other. But as a second timer on this island, i was still sheered by its beauty, its shores and the turquoise waters surrounding this island.
The other side of Capones Island...
The Sand of Capones Island...
This island always make me believe that our country posseses the best island and beaches you can find worldwide, it is really impressive how our nature sculpt it and make it as a lovely destinations. The island's raw and rustic simplicity is a sight that most of the tourists visit.
Lakwatserong Tatay's chillax time...^_^
After huggling around, few of us go swimming on its shores, we decided to start our trek to Capones lighthouse. This is the time most of my trippers deciding whether to hike or not due to a very sunny condition, but as we started walking to very hot sand of Capones, 2 of the trippers decided to stay along the shores and be the guard of our valuable things....hehehehe...^_^.

The view from top of the hill, there was also supposed to be a resort, but based from the naval officer we've talked to. Until now it is pending and they even know when the construction will proceed...thanks to the people who opposes to build a resort on this island...and sad to say that's always been a problem on our country.....now this officer used this unfinished building as there based on guarding this island...hooray...^_^.

My Third Visit to Anawangin

by lakwatserong tatay

At last, after few hours of travel from Manila, i've seen again Anawangin. This would be my third time to visit Anawangin, now with new trippers, the 1st time i've get to this place is through a trek from Brgy. Pundaquit and next one is an invite from another mountaineering organization, and this will be my first time to organize an actual trip to Anawangin and sidetrips to 2 two islands: Capones and Camara Islands.
Our boat ride to Anawangin
The Trippers....^_^
Through the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 changed the landscape of Central Luzon, and one of this changes emerge the secluded cove, now known as Anawangin Cove is a crescent shaped cove with a pristine white sand beach, and dotted with pine tree like (actually Agoho trees). What makes the place unique is the unusual riddle of tall pine trees flourishin round its vicinity. There are no roads going to Anawangin. Anawangin Cove is facing the open sea of South China Sea. This cove is only accesible via 30-40 minutes boat ride from the shores of Brgy.Pundaquit, San Antonio, Zambales or via 4 to 6 hrs trek to very open and hot trails of Mt. Pundaquit range.
Anawangin Beach Resort (?)
This cove is used to be mountaineers' secret getaway after a climb to Zambales mountains, but now a days this cove was not a secret anymore. The cove is now a famous camping site of tourist from all walks of life. Where you experience the back to basic life, with no electricity and mobile signal. Like what my trippers experience when i brought them to this amazing cove.
Some of the trippers first photo opps of Anawangin..^_^
After having some photo souvenirs along the shores of Anawangin cove, it time to look for our camping site...

2-3 person tents
Here are the reasons why it makes me always want to go back to Anawangin Cove, because of it's pristine and breezy place, the unusual riddle of pine tress around its vicinity, and through this pictures below will tell you why i really love this cove.

The picturestique sites around this cove.....
This cove was once secluded few years back, in fact i had the chance to experience it way through trails of Mt. Pundaquit and as you get to this other side a very pristine and secluded cove will greet you together with it's caretaker, some locals of Zambales who lives on this place. But now a days, Anawangin cove really change from secluded to a famous destination for a famous camping site of tourists, although through the years, the hidden cove has maintained its beauty and serenity that due to its remoteness. This cove could be really exploited through the years, i'm not against the tourism for this place but i do hope that this cove could be still preserved in the coming years and i'm really hoping that i could bring my kids and see this cove on its pristine and breezy condition.

Here are some reasons why i'm afraid that maybe in few years now, we could not see anymore the pristine and serenity of this cove.
One of the stores in this cove....
some of the infrastracture....are on going....
Too much crowded like we experience when we stayed there!
Private resorts is now starting to take placed this cove....
But if you want to have a greater view of Anawangin Cove, it is better to climb the right side hill of this cove, and to see also another cove that until now i did not know it's name....hehehehe...Here are some of our shots towards our hill climb, and viewing opportunities together with my fellow trippers.
